Synopsis:

Numerous gods perished in antiquity, leaving just the last god, Xing Zhi, to live. Emperor Xing Zhi had spent tens of thousands of years dwelling above the sky, devoid of feeling or desire. He was the only one who could salvage the situation in a battle between the gods and the demons. But after that, he vanished from sight and refused to interact with anybody. A few centuries later, Shen Li, the female demon ruler, was born holding a pearl in her mouth.

As a political alliance, she planned a marriage on her thousandth birthday. Shen Li was ambushed while trying to flee this marriage and reverted to her phoenix form. She was severely injured and in a coma when she dropped into the human world. She was taken as a plump chicken by a seller, who removed all of her feathers and sold her in a cage. When Shen Li woke up and realized she was in this predicament, she became so enraged that she passed out on her back. A dainty guy dressed in black and white stopped and looked at her thoughtfully as she felt hopeless and unhappy. “I want this chicken,” he said. Suddenly, this apparently accidental deal resulted in the two people’s fortunes being inextricably entwined.
